SB 407 - Requires Replacement of Plumbing Fixtures with Water-Conserving Fixtures

Senate Bill 407 (hereinafter “SB 407”) requires the replacement of all noncompliant plumbing fixtures in commercial and residential properties built prior to 1994 with water-conserving fixtures. Compliance is required by January 1, 2017 for single-family residences and by January 1, 2019 for multi-family residential and commercial properties. Additionally, owners seeking to remodel on or after January 1, 2014 will be required to replace noncompliant plumbing fixtures as a condition of receiving building permits. SB 407 will apply to common area plumbing fixtures, such as in restrooms and clubhouses. It may also apply to all fixtures in stock cooperatives.
